FAQs
What Is THCP Flower and How Is It Made?
THCP (tetrahydrocannabiphorol) is a rare cannabinoid that occurs naturally in very small amounts in cannabis. Because natural levels are so low, THCP flower products are usually created by infusing or coating hemp flower with THCP distillate. The base hemp must stay compliant with federal limits of less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC, and reputable products are verified through third-party lab testing.
How Does THCP Differ From Traditional THC?
THCP and Delta-9 THC share similar chemical structures, but THCP has a longer side chain, which gives it a much stronger binding affinity to CB1 receptors. This enhanced binding means THCP can deliver more powerful effects even at smaller amounts. While it doesn’t necessarily mean it is “30 times stronger,” many users report THCP feels more intense and longer lasting compared to traditional THC.
Is THCP Flower Legal, and Will It Show Up on a Drug Test?
Federally, THCP flower made from hemp is considered legal under the 2018 Farm Bill, as long as Delta-9 THC levels remain below 0.3%. However, state laws can differ, and some areas restrict or ban psychoactive hemp cannabinoids. As for drug tests, THCP is likely to trigger a positive result for THC since standard tests cannot distinguish between the two.
