In this article, though, we’re going to be diving into everything delta 8 THC vape cartridges.

What is a delta 8 THC vape cartridge?

While delta 8 THC (a cannabinoid derived from the hemp plant) might be a newer cannabinoid to hit the hemp industry, vape cartridges have been around for over a decade. Delta 8 THC has provided immediate relief to thousands of people, so it’s easy to see how it has become so popular.

The cartridge system consists of a ceramic heating element enclosed in glass, and they usually hold around 1-2mL of distillate in the inner sides of the glass. The heating element is able to create vapor by introducing extreme temperatures in a controlled manner.

Many people prefer a delta 8 THC vape cartridge over disposables for a few reasons. One of the reasons is that cartridge batteries allow for temperature changes.

This means you can control the temperature you’re vaping at, avoiding having too much heat destroy your oil. Many cartridge batteries also come with a preheat function, which can warm the oil to the perfect vaping temperature.

How to take care of a delta 8 THC vape cartridge system

If you want to get the most out of your delta 8 vape cartridge, you should take the necessary steps to take care of it.

First, we recommend storing your delta 8 vape cartridge upright in room temperature. When you store your vape carts by letting them stand upright, you’re letting the oil settle and enter the ceramic heating element efficiently. We also recommend you avoid leaving it in direct sunlight or drastic temperature differences to prevent clogs (like a hot car or cold freezer).

How to deal with a clogged delta 8 THC vape cartridge

Try to draw extra air in through the mouthpiece

Unfortunately, like disposables, vape carts can get clogged, too.

The most common clogging issue is a clogged mouthpiece. However, this is an easy fix. Most of the time, if you pull hard and draw extra air in for a few seconds, you’ll hear a pop and the vape cartridge will be unclogged.

You’ll know your vape cartridges are clogged if the airflow becomes extremely restricted or if your delta 8 vape cartridge has stopped firing.

Another method is to use a Q-tip or safety pin to move around the thick vape oil from the clogged vape device. Then use a paper towel to clean up the excess oil.

If you’ve tried inhaling hard and the mouthpiece is still clogged, we have some more simple solutions to get you back on your way.

We recommend you apply heat to your clogged cart, but not too much. You can do this by using a hair dryer on low heat. Be careful not to put the blow dryer too close to the inner walls of the clogged device.

The goal is to warm up the delta 8 THC, but you don’t want to completely turn it into a liquid.

Once you see that you have warmed up the delta 8 THC distillate to more of a liquid consistency, you can try pulling as you would normally do to see if it unclogs. At this point, if the clog is not fixed, we’ll have to move to another ideal solution.

Blowing out excess vapor

Another way to treat a clog in your delta 8 THC vape cartridges is by using a combination of the last two solutions while blowing through the bottom.

You can do this by screwing your cartridge upright like intended, heating the vape oil (you can even use the preheat function for this), and blowing air through the bottom the blow excess vapor out of the mouthpiece.

Do this for a few seconds to see if it fixes the clog. If the clog has been resolved, take some softer hits after to make sure it stays unclogged. The softer hit goes a long way!

There are other several simple solutions that we can use to cure a clog in a delta 8 vape cartridge if blowing air, pulling, or other solutions don’t work.

You can try putting the delta 8 vape cartridge in a Ziploc bag and running it under hot water to warm up the thick delta 8 THC distillate. Make sure not to include your battery device or other devices when you do this! Another solution is to tilt your delta 8 vape cart on its side and use a lighter to heat up the glass (be extremely careful not to melt the mouthpiece or burn yourself).

Why do delta 8 vape cartridges get clogged?

We know how annoying it is to find a clog in your delta 8 cartridge, but it’s good to know what causes a clog before you try to fix the clogging. By knowing what causes a clog, you might be able to prevent it before the clogging even happens.

Is too much heat bad?

To start, delta 8 THC distillate is relatively thick, so when it’s left unused in a cartridge on its side, the distillate may harden around the mouthpiece, causing a clog.

Clogging is often caused by temperature differences (softening and hardening the oil). When it gets hot, the distillate can turn into a liquid consistency and travel up the mouthpiece. When it cools, the distillate hardens and creates a clog. Luckily, you now know the methods to store and unclog your vapes. If one method doesn’t work, we’ve included many others, so give it a shot!

Make sure to store them correctly and take care of them for the best vapor experience. If none of these solutions work for you, you can also do a quick Google search to find more solutions online! Stay elevated, and stay safe.
